Mary Lou Helms

HELMS, Mary Lou Wall, age 91 passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Born and raised in Enterprise, AL, Montgomery was her home for 40years. Mary Lou graduated from Auburn University in Home Economics and received her Masters degree from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Helms taught in several schools in Alabama and Georgia before working alongside her late husband at Helms & Sons Tractor Company until her retirement. Mary Lou was a devoted Christian and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a passion for cooking and entertaining and was happiest in the kitchen cooking for her family and friends. She loved her family, her church and her Auburn Tigers. She was preceded in death by her parents , James Wyatt Wall and Gypsie Gunter Wall, her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband of 61 years, James Ollie Helms, Jr. She is survived by her three children, Jane Reaves (Danny Fordham); Jim Helms (Robin); Dick Helms (Alisa): seven grandchildren, Chris Reaves (Jenny); Jennifer Reaves Bouani (Sean); Tyler Helms; Ragan Helms Schmansky (Adam); Tyner Helms; Tucker Helms; Thomas Helms; two great grandchildren, Reece Reaves; Avia Bouani. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Rita Copeland, her loving and devoted friend and compassionate care giver. Pallbearers will be Chris Reaves, Reece Reaves, Tyler Helms, Tyner Helms, Tucker Helms, Thomas Helms and Adam Schmansky. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, November 2, 2015 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
