I worked for Mike at Colonial Bank.  I never worked as hard in my life, I never learned more from another individual and I was never so richly rewarded.  He was an exceptional human being in a cluster of the ordinary. He was the innovator, the truth teller, the problem solver and could make things happen that needed to happen.  I loved him, I respected him and his lessons allowed me to experience much success in the remaining years of my career.

Everyday that passes, I miss you more. I love you, Dad.

I had the opportunity to cut my teeth in the accounting profession working with Mike for 13 years at The Colonial Company in Montgomery, Al. I will say that he was one of the smartest accounting professionals I have ever had the chance to get to know and work with on a daily basis. He expected a lot, but never more than he expected from himself. His no nonsense approach to problem solving and his work ethic still influences me today. My prayers are with his family for strength and comfort during these trying times. He once told me that anyone can hit the fastball, but it takes a special person to also hit the junk ball when it is thrown their way. I saw him hit a few curve balls in my time, and through his teaching I have been able to hit one or too over the last 20 years or so. I respected his knowledge and his candor.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike a few years ago.  For those that knew him, you know he never held his tongue.  You never had to wonder what he was thinking. I appreciated that so much. He was always there to give me advice. I am definitely going to miss our talks.  Prayers for the family.

I worked for Mike for several years while he was at BB&T.  Mike was never afraid to say what came to his mind, which I always appreciated.  I'll greatly miss our conversations and the innumerable stories told.  He will be missed, but the lessons he taught will continue to influence others.

Mike was a very special man, a man with depth and heart. His words were measured and he kept much to himself, but he was always thinking. He loved his children, that was a constant. And he was loved.

I enjoyed working with Mike for years and he always was a pleasure to talk with. He would always make me laugh!  I pray for the family and friends to find peace and enjoy your memories of this fine man!!

I worked with Michael several years ago at BB&T.  While we never had the chance to meet in person, I always enjoyed our conversations and appreciated his perspective.  So sorry to hear of his passing.  My thoughts are with his family, friends, and co-workers during this difficult time.

Mike was a fine man who took the time to listen and provide great counsel.  His love for his family was always evident.  He will be greatly missed.

I have been very fortunate to have worked with Mike for a number of years when he was a client for a bank where I worked and now with BB&T.  He was a very fine man, very devoted to his family.  My sincere condolences.
