
Ray Cox Holliday, 91, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 3, 2012. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at Vaughn Forest Church. Burial will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012, in Belton, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene (Ruth) Holliday, and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mamie Alma Murphy Holliday; his daughter, Susan Holliday (John) Gaines; and grandchildren, Austin, Collin and Lauren Gaines. Ray served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was retired management serving Duke Power Co. for 32 years. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He sought to live his life to bring glory and honor to Jesus Christ, and was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church, Williamston, South Carolina for many years. For the last 13 years he has been a member of Vaughn Forest Church, Montgomery, AL. The family would like to express special thanks to Nurse Angie Beilstein and the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their care of Ray in recent months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Vaughn Forest Church or Amedisys Hospice.
