She is survived by her daughter, Rory Williams Quint (Ned), sisters, Rachel Estes Strickland, Genene Estes Nelson (Don), and Noel Estes; her grandchildren, Alex and Caitlyn Quint; nieces, Rosemary Zenor (John), Regina Roeder (Michael), nephew, Matthew Nelson; and many cousins, and special friend, Merilee Ferguson.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lt. Colonel, Jimmy Williams, whom she met in Montgomery in 1966 while he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base. She and Jim traveled throughout the US and settled in Northern Virginia, where she worked with many civic organizations.
She was the president of the Lorton Community Action Committee for several years where she worked to promote safety and commerce. Her commitment extended to her home community Weoka, where she worked with others to secure county-supplied drinking water for residents of Elmore County.
Rebecca was known for her grace and sense of style, but moreover for her fierce devotion to her sisters, other family members, her friends, and her beloved pet schnauzer, Zoe. She had seven schnauzers in her lifetime.
A celebration of Rebecca’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 16 at 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Montgomery on 305 South Perry Street. The service will be conducted by family friend and minister, Dr. John Brannon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons’ Foundation at 1349 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 12318.
The family thanks the employees of the hospice group Amedisys and special nurse Tiffany Dawson and caregivers.
