

Lt. Col. Richard “RD” Goff, age 83, of Laurel, Mississippi recently of Wetumpka, AL passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Born to Harrison Richard Goff and Melissa Evans on March 18, 1933. Richard was an Army Pilot, as well as a flight & instrument instructor. He flew OV-1 Mohawks in 2 Vietnam tours. Proud to have been in the “Big Red 1.” He was commander of many units, one of which was the 5th Artillery, D Battery, 1st Infantry Division of the Alexander Hamilton Canoners. After 20 years of service, Richard retired as Lt. Col., National Guard Aviation Advisor for State of AL and for 40 years he had GBS tax accounting business. Mr. Goff is preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Vance Goff and daughter, Marsha Moore. He is survived by his loving partner, Janice Hollon; his daughter, Rhonda Goff Barton and her husband Marlin, his sons, Jeffery Goff and Jayson Goff; his five grandchildren; Donovan Ivey, Jonathon Moore, Collen Akler, Hadon Goff, and Lauren Goff; and his brother, Ralph Goff. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Alabama Heritage. A celebration of Mr. Goff’s life will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:00 am.
