Hause, William Louis (known as Bill “Bear” Hause), MSgt (ret), age 77, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. He is survived by his children, Lisa (Jim) Wiggins, Bill (Christine) Hause, Andrea (Freddie) Durbin, James (Kimberly) Hause, and Dwight (Makayla) Hause; three sisters, Marilyn Loftus, Kathy Irwin, Eileen Abrams; four brothers, Steve Hause, David Hause, Gerry Hause, Eddie Hause; a half-brother, Scott Hause; nine grandchildren, Ross Lyerly, Martha, Sara, & Emily Hause, Lorelei, Tanner, Lexi, and Maddux Durbin, Salem Hause, and one great-grandchild, AJ Lyerly; and his sweetheart, Sandi Sears. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marianne Hause, one granddaughter, Caitlyn Wiggins, and a half-brother, Tom Polk.
Bill retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1984 after serving 20 years, which included two tours in Vietnam, and time spent working as a firefighter, an imagery analyst, and one of the Air Force’s earliest computer programmers. He retired from Electronic Data Systems in 2004 and from the State of Alabama, Department of Public Health in 2019.
Bill was a devoted and proud father and grandfather. He dedicated his life to his children. This was extended to countless youth over many decades. He spent more than 50 years volunteering as a bowling coach, team statistician, and team photographer. He coached hundreds of youth bowlers who affectionately knew him as “Coach Bear”, and kept bowling statistics for decades. You could often find him keeping the book meticulously at basketball, softball, and baseball games. (Yes, he was the one trying his best not to get kicked from the table for letting the refs and umps know what they missed.) And he would brag on all those kids like they were his own. If you attended a youth Mass at St. Bede, you would have found him mentoring the youth ushers every Sunday. His joy was helping youth see their successes.
A Funeral mass will be held at St. Bede the Venerable Church, celebrated by Father Alejandro Valladares on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held in the hour prior to mass at the Parish Hall. The family extends their sincere appreciation and thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Baptist East, the Montgomery Cancer Center, Answered Prayers, and Amedisys. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Bede Youth Group or Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School.
