William Read Scott

William Read Scott (Bill), born April 20, 1927, in Mckeesport, Pennsylvania, son of John and Ellen Scott, and a longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away, November 19, 2015. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian Elaine Scott. Please join Bill’s family in celebrating his life at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 24th at Messiah Lutheran Church, 6670 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL. Visitation will take place at the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, 1505 Atlanta Highway. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church. He is survived by children, Mark (Patsy) Scott, Birmingham, AL, Martha (Garth) Tymeson, La Crosse, WI and Peter (Diane) Scott, Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, David and Michael Scott, Kyle, Ryan and Marissa Tymeson, and John, Danielle, Matthew and Stephen Scott. Proud of his country, Bill served during WWII as a Seaman First Class in the US Navy and later graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He married Lillian (Peterson) on August 23, 1952 and faithfully cared for her in her final years. His career was primarily in the management, processing and sales for the beef industry. He served as a leader at his church and community. He enjoyed fishing, golf and stock trading. His personality and sense of humor made him a natural for participation as a Danberry Player where he entertained the residents in numerous theatrical productions. However, Bill was most proud of his family, grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Special thanks to the entire staff of Danberry at Inverness, UAB Hospital and Highland’s Hospital for their loving care. There will be a memorial service at Danberry at a later date.
