David was a man of great character, honesty, and integrity. He was a fun-loving and compassionate husband and father, and he adored his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. "Big Dave" loved the outdoors; duck hunting and fishing with family and friends brought him great joy through the years. Special bonds were made out on the water and in the woods--friendships that lasted a lifetime.
"The Sac-a-lait King of the Basin," as he was called by his friends and family, could usually be found watching a beautiful sunrise. He always took time to appreciate the simple but important things in life: nature, friends, and most importantly, family.
He was employed and retired from Shell Offshore after 35 years of service. While at Shell, he was a Transportation Supervisor. But that wasn't his most important title. That belongs to husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. David was also a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
David is survived by his loving wife, Joy Giroir Loupe; three sons, Troy and Roxanne Loupe of Watersound, FL, Neil and Jennifer Loupe of Berwick, LA, and Heath Loupe of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren include Tyler Daigle and his wife, Hope Barras, of Patterson, LA, Morgan, Brodie, Addison, and Meredith Loupe and his great-granddaughter, Ellie Daigle. He is also survived by his brother, Forrest Loupe, Jr., and his wife, Annette, of Centerville, MS, and his mother-in-law Shirley Giroir, of Morgan City, LA.
Preceding David in death was his daughter, Celeste Loupe, his parents, Forrest and Wilhelmina Loupe, his sister, Gayle Davis, and his father-in-law, Cyrus Giroir.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic church followed by mass at 11:00 a.m. David will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kiwanis of East St. Mary P.O. Box 3475 Morgan City, LA 70381.
