Elma was a devoted and loving grandmother who cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Known for her excellent cooking, she also gave much of her time and heart to Bayou Vista Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated founding member and active in church work, especially helping in the kindergarten classes. Elma was also a proud member of the Alice Chapter #5 of the Eastern Star.
Those left to cherish Elma's beautiful memory are her five children, Karen Gillen and her husband, Lee, Carlton Pearce and his wife, Shelia, and Milton Pearce, Dale Pearce, and David Pearce; two siblings, Earlene Cantrell and Margaret Barnhill; seven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
She was reunited in heaven with her husband, Charles Pearce; her parents, Elmer and Ursula Ward; and her siblings, Margie Stuart, and Shirlene McIntyre.
The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 9am until time of services which will begin promptly at 10am at Bayou Vista Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to a charity of choice.
