

A native of White Castle and a resident of Patterson passed away on August 31, 2015 at the age of 74. Evelyn was a loving wife of fifty years to her husband, Jerry Potter; mother to her precious dog, Sussie; sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. In the early years of her marriage she held a variety of jobs to put her husband through college. Bailing hay, driving a wheat truck, and riveting aircrafts are just a few of those jobs. Beeche Aircraft recognized her with an award for being an outstanding employee. Loving, loyal, dedicated, and hardworking are just a few of the traits that she possessed.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Jerry Potter; two brothers, John Irwin Sr. and his wife, Bernice, and Rodney Irwin Jr.; sisters in law, Sissy Irwin, Charlotte Slater, and Ila “Boots” Burgardt and her husband, Earl, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rodney and Lois Irwin; brothers, James “Jim” Irwin and Emmette Irwin; sisters, Margaret Irwin, Barbara Lynn Irwin Callegan, and Doris “Dot” Irwin Benson; brother in law, Harold Slater; and sister in law, Jimmie Pemberton.
The family requests that visitation take place Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 6pm until 10pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 9am until time of service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor of White Castle. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11am at Our Lady of Prompt Succor and Evelyn will be laid to rest in the church cemetery follow services.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ochsner Hospital in Slidell as well as the main campus in New Orleans for the excellent care that was given to our loved one.
