Johnnie Mae Muckenfuss Dumas, 84, a native of Ridgeville, South Carolina, and a resident of Morgan City, Louisiana, passed away Monday, April 25, 2014, at Teche Regional Hospital in Morgan City.
Johnnie was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed sewing, housekeeping, puzzle books, and Jeopardy. As a Navy wife, she traveled to many places in the United States, but finally settled in Charleston, South Carolina, where she worked in sales at a local department store. Her last years were spent in Morgan City with her daughter and her family.
Johnnie is survived by her daughter, Melody Dumas Turner of Morgan City; her son-in-law, Gerald Turner of Morgan City; her grandson, Jeremy Turner of Los Angeles, California; her granddaughter, Caitlyn Turner Guiffreda and her husband, Eric, of Prairieville, Louisiana; and her great-granddaughter, Gillian Rose Guiffreda of Prairieville.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, John Andrew Muckenfuss and Susan Elizabeth Hoff Muckenfuss; her two sons, Michael Alan Dumas, and Mark Anthony Dumas; her two sisters, Harriet Elizabeth Sanders and Dorothy Staab; and her brother, Thomas Andrew Muckenfuss.
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Hargrave Funeral Home, Morgan City, from 5:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Nathan Rush of First Baptist Church officiating. Johnnie will be laid to rest at Cypress United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ridgeville, South Carolina.
