Alta D. Gonzalez

Alta D. (Apley) Gonzalez, age 91, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, June 6, 2022. She was born in Bad Axe, Michigan to Asa Ward and Nelly (King) Apley on October 8, 1930. She married Joseph H. Gonzalez Sr. on January 31, 1948. They were married for 73 years at the time of his passing on October 18, 2021.

Alta loved cooking, camping, shopping and spending time with her family. After she and Joe retired, they traveled the country in their motorhome. They also loved to dance and take trips to the casino.

She is survived by her children: Rosalie Haas, Linda (Dr. John) Brissette, Joseph H. (Donna) Gonzalez Jr., Rodney Gonzalez and Michael (Summer) Gonzalez. Grandchildren: Tina (David) Cariker, Lita (Brian) Fisher, Karina Ulfsax, Drs. Catherine (John) Brissette-Watt, Shannon (David) Boothroyd, Angelea (Rodney) Anderson, Raechelle (Jeff Moore) Gonzalez, Dr. Emily (Mike King) Brissette, Charles Brissette, Nick and Charlie. Fifteen great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Her sister, Inez Gerstenschlager, brother-in-law, Ray (Rita) Gonzalez and sister-in-law, Ellena Gonzalez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 11 siblings, grandchildren Dana and Samantha Gonzalez and son-in-law, David Haas.

A service to celebrate Alta’s life will be 1:00pm Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Ever Rest Funeral Homes and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon. Officiating will be Pastor Rodney Anderson, Sr. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will beTuesday, from 12noon until the time of the service at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
