Mr. Charles Eric Ortquist, age 81, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011. He was born on January 2, 1930 in Muskegon to Austin and Julia (Ogren) Ortquist. Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marcella (Lock); children, Wayne J. (Linda) Ortquist of West Olive, MI and Wanda (Vince Staffney) Ortquist of Roosevelt Park; 2 granddaughters, Allison and Lauryn Ortquist; sister, Bernice Nienhouse of Grand Haven; sister-in-law, Thelma Alfultis of Spring Lake; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Lynn Ortquist and by a brother, Robert Ortquist. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28. He had retired from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and Operating Engineers Local #324. Charles was also a member of the Grand Haven Eagles #925, Grand Haven Elks Lodge #1200 and the Lithuanian Club. He enjoyed fishing, hiking and gardening. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
