Don was born October 31, 1934, the son of Elmer and Harriett Douglas. He married Barbara Berta on June 18, 1955 and was blessed with 68 years of marriage. Don served in the US Air Force. He established his own business, Douglas Auto Body and was a craftsman with his painting and bodywork ability. He and his wife acquired many league bowling trophies on the teams their business sponsored. He loved sports and always supported Detroit Lions & Tigers. He would drive house to house to bring Joy and Wonder to many faces when he and his wife showed up dressed like Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause. He also loved mushroom hunting, scenic road trips, and an occasional ride to the casino. He had the ability to brighten a room with his quick wit, fun, and caring personality.
His unconditional love will be deeply missed.
Don is survived by: his loving wife, Barbara; children, Dirk (Irene), Bryan (Ginger); grandchildren, Bob (Heather), Wesley (Gina), Tiffany (Kurt), Jolene (Dylan), and Sara; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Hannah, and Brynlee; brother, Mike; sister, Pauline; sister-in-law, Marsha; brother-in-law, Earl; Char (Kim), and many more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Vivian, Richard, Gloria and Rick; and brother-in-law, Tom Liskey.
A Celebration of Don’s life will take place from 1:30-3:30PM on Friday, December 15, 2023 at The Fruitport Eagles 3357 S Dangl Road Muskegon.
