Dorothy I. Singleton

Mrs. Dorothy I. Singleton, age 79, passed away on March 3, 2016. Dorothy was born on October 18, 1936 to Frank and Sarah Pruitt, in Fords branch Kentucky. She moved to Michigan in 1955 and met and married Gerald (Jerry) Singleton on July 7, 1955. Together they were bless with and raised 4 children. Dorothy worked at Mercy and General Hospitals for 15 years as a nurse’s tech, a job she loved until her retirement in 1998. She always had a smile on her face; she was a very sweet and nice person. She enjoyed going to lunch with her sisters and reading her Bible. Dorothy loved Jesus Christ and had a good relationship with Him. What she loved most was family and spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by all who know and love her. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Gerald (Jerry); Elizabeth (William) Jarman, Douglas (Brenda) Singleton, Christopher (Christina) Singleton and Brenda (Roger) Doctor; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Katherine Compton, Oakley Giddings and Sue Casebolt. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 8 brothers and sisters. A memorial service for Dorothy will be on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 2pm at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel; 1783 E. Keating Ave in Muskegon. Officiating will be William Jarman. Visitation will be from 12-2pm, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
