

Evelyn Ione Gilbert, widow of Foster age 94, passed from this life on Friday, February 8, 2013 into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Evelyn was born in Casnovia, Michigan on December 7, 1918 to the late Albert and Orah Stark. Evelyn graduated from Grant High School, class of 1937. On September 28, 1940 Evelyn married the love of her life and best friend, Foster Gilbert, and they made their home in Muskegon. All of Evelyn’s loved ones loved the homemade bread, potato salad, butterscotch pie, pot roast, and apple grunt that were just some of her specialties. She loved her home, her family and her church. Evelyn worked for many years in the dietary department at the former Muskegon General Hospital before retiring. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Foster; an infant son, Gordon Lee; her brothers, Eldon and Roger Stark; sisters, LaVern Jorgensen and Nellie Stevens. Evelyn is survived by her four children, Jack (Dona) Gilbert, Catherine (Kenneth) Jantovsky, Cindy (Larry) Bolduc, and Betty (Dr. Jeffrey) Recknagel; the grandchildren, she loved so dearly, Amy (Jim) Clapp, Sara (Bob) Borrink, Kyle (Karoline) Bolduc, Tyler Bolduc, Cameron, Whitney, Hannah and Paige Recknagel, and Kim Stevens. Evelyn loved children and was blessed with 10 incredible great-grandchildren, Hunter, Rylee, Emma, Ava, Sophia, Raeann, Natalie, Austin, Alivia and Alexis. Also surviving are her sister, Maurine Stark and sister-in-law, Carmen Gilbert. The service of praise and thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life for Evelyn will be Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Apple Ave. at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Conradt and Pastor Mark Gilson officiating. Relatives and friends may visit will the family at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Lions Club.
