

George was born on February 20, 1955, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Charles Junior Mead and Pauline Naomi (Wells) Mead. George was raised in Holton, Michigan, and graduated from Holton High School in 1973. Following graduation, George proudly joined the United States Navy, serving his country from 1973 to 1977. After his military service, he returned home and attended Ferris State University.
George built a successful career as a skilled HVAC technician, working for several companies and eventually operating his own business. He took great pride in his trade and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends, family, and anyone in need.
He had a deep love for horses and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and four-wheeler. George especially treasured time spent fishing on Mystery Lake with his family and friends.
George faithfully served at Holton American Legion Post 397 in various capacities, including Commander. He also served for many years as a dedicated member of the Honor Guard, paying tribute to fellow veterans with dignity and respect.
He leaves behind his daughters, Nichole (Jason) Haaksma; Katie (Garrett Lee) Powell-Lee; and Holly (Phil) Wilcox; and his adored grandchildren, Gerrit, Nathaniel, Elena, Grayson, and Isaac. He is also survived by his sisters, Christine Shriver and Linda (Duane) Lohman; his brother, Richard “Dick” Mead; as well as many special extended family members and dear friends.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date.
George Louis Mead will forever remain in our hearts.
