Mary Louisa Benson

Mary was a graduate of North Muskegon High School, and she went on to study at Muskegon Community College before taking up work in the public school system. Mary worked for over 30 years as a Paraprofessional at Reeths Puffer Public School. She was strong in her faith and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church before becoming a parishioner of Celebration Beach Church of Naples, Florida. She and her husband would winter in Florida and have been 'snowbirds' for the last 20 years. In her free time, Mary enjoyed shopping for Antiques and tending to her flowerpots. Above all, Mary loved her family. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, supportive mom, and loving grandma. She was a light to many and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by: parents, Clarence and Doris Forner, and brother, David Forner.

Mary is survived by: husband of 58 years, Wayne L. Benson; sons, Mike (Kris) Benson, and Mark (Sandy) Benson; grandchildren, Amanda (Brenden) Sturr, Andrea (Brad) Simonich, Zach Benson, and Jenna (Reilly) Wisniewski; great-grandson, Bennett Sturr; as well as, many other extended family members and dear friends.

A Memorial Service, officiated by Pastor Carlos Ramos, will be held on Monday, September 29th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442. The family will welcome guests an hour prior to the start of the service. A Luncheon will take place immediately after the memorial. The luncheon will be held at VFW Post  3195, 5209 Grand Haven Rd. Norton Shores, MI 49441.
