Paul Filka

Paul was born April 16, 1928, the son of Paul and Anna Filka. Paul Served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Salem and while in port near Peabody, Massachusetts met his wife the former Ada Osgood. They were married on October 20, 1951 and together they were blessed with 71 years of marriage and raised 4 children together. He worked as a letter carrier for the Postal Service his entire career. Following retirement Paul and Ada lived their life to the fullest, traveling and wintering at Trophy Gardens in Alamo, Texas. Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was an outstanding bowler and pool player, loved music and spent life dancing as much as possible with Ada. Paul was a gentle, patient, kind, humble man. He was a loving husband and father who was always there for his kids, family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Paul is survived by: his children, Pam (Bob) Irwin, Paula (Alan) Bosman Belanger, and Bob (Karen) Filka; grandchildren, Kristen (Seth), Kellynne (Jorden), Keith (Chelsea), Taylor, Courtney (Luke), Elise (Jeff), Isabel (Lance), Nikki (Dan), and Kelly (Scott); 14 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Phil McRoberts; and former daughter-in-law, Lori Filka.

He was preceded in death by: his wife Ada; daughter, Patti McRoberts; his parents; sister, Anne “Auntie” Filka; and son-in-law, Doug Bosman.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church 1860 E Hile Road Muskegon. Visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be at Norton Cemetery next to his wife.
