Bob graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1965. He worked at General Motors for 30 years. After his retirement in 1996, he worked as a crossing guard and playground aide for Muskegon Public Schools and as an usher at Walker Arena (now Mercy Health Arena). Bob and his wife Kathleen spent every summer beginning in 1998 at Northern Exposure Campground in Mesick, where Bob came to be known as Boat Launch Bob. He loved fishing and camping and made friends everywhere he went.
Bob is survived by his wife Kathleen, his daughter and son in law Michelle and Jason Weimer, son and daughter in law Michael Phillips and Rebecca Zorach, daughter Cynthia Phillips, brother Gary Crane, son Gary Crane, and grandsons Gary Crane, Austin Steenhagen, and Oliver Zorach-Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Alma, brothers Donald and Nick Crane and Fred Osborn, sister and brother in law Janet and Larry Bullock, and son Jeff Crane.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church in Muskegon.
