Samuel Isaac Erickson

reunited with his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann.

Sam was the youngest of eight children born on October 18th, 1935 to Verner Isaac and Ellen Erickson in

Muskegon, MI. He attended school in Muskegon and entered The United States Army in 1954. He was

stationed in Japan and worked as an Airframe Repairman. Following discharge from the Army he worked

at Goodwill Industries as a furniture repairman where he met his wife Barbara Ann. The two were

married on December 31, 1964 and made their home in Wolf Lake. Following his marriage Sam went to

work at Story and Clark Piano for several years and later bought a small corner grocery store, J&T

Market, which they owned and operated until retirement. Sam was not one to sit still for long and even

after retirement went to work part time at Barnes hardware. Sam enjoyed a variety of hobbies including wood working, gardening, and walking in the woods. He loved to sit at the dining room table with his cup of coffee and a cookie and watch the birds and wildlife outside the window. Sam and Barb frequently traveled to the Upper Peninsula to visit their son Scott and his wife, as well as to take in the beauty of the area.

Sam is survived by his children, Scott (Barb) Erickson, Sandy (Lance) Sowa. Grandchildren Lawson Sowa,

Tanner (Lydia Harz) Sowa, Jeremy (Taryn) Sowa, and great grandchildren David James and Maddison

Ann Sowa as well as his sister Elaine Pike, and many other relatives and special friends.

A special thank you goes out to all of those who have assisted with caring for Sam and his wife Barb over

the last few years especially the staff at Lake Woods Nursing and Rehab, who took the time to listen to

his stories, laugh at his one-liners, and make sure he always had his cookies. The family is forever

grateful for the love and care you provided.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions there will be no funeral services. The family will hold a private

graveside service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens of Muskegon on Monday, December 14th at 2 p.m.
