She was born November 7, 1944 to Gordon and Grace (Scholtens) Nelson in Muskegon, MI where she was a life long resident. Sheryl was a member of the 1st graduating class of Orchard View High School and received a degree from the Muskegon Business College. She attended Beacon Light Community Church, where she loved directing VBS and other children programs, many she wrote herself. Sheryl worked at Ryke's bakery as a decorator for about 30 years and her family will lovingly remember the countless cakes and cookies she would bring to each celebration. She had a passion for handmade crafts and making gifts for her family, many of which adorn the walls in their homes.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Stephen.
She is survived by her siblings, Rod Nelson (Pam) and Kristi Nelson; and nieces and nephews, Sherrene, Megan, Bear, Travis, Jonathan, Aleah and Eleanor, who were the light of her life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
