BONNIE JEAN GRONDIN (nee Bradburn) born October 9th, 1940

It is with great sadness that Bonnie’s family announces her passing on December 19, 2018. Bonnie passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness. The last few days of her life were spent with her loving family close by her side. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Marc, her children Dan (Sharon), Bob, Deb, Ron, her grandchildren Michael, Liam, Laura, Rowan, and her brother Ron (Nadine), as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents Catherine and William Bradburn.

Travel was a hallmark of her 59-year married life with husband Marc whose RCAF and sales career took them to many homes in 9 Canadian cities and four provinces, (Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia). Bonnie enjoyed international travel and collecting ceramic or glass elephants. However, her family was always the most important aspect of her life. Bonnie’s homes were always immaculate regardless of whether they were filled with her own children, or half the children in the neighbourhood. Bonnie’s personal appearance was also very important, she never left home without first having done her hair (often with a generous amount of hairspray) and a quick spritz of her favorite scent “Oscar de la Renta”. Bonnie was very kind, caring, empathetic, and had a great sense of humour. She left a mark on the world. Her smile lit up a room. She always paid attention to all the seemingly little things. She had such grace and style. Bonnie had the greatest heart and was very generous with it. She cared so very deeply and passionately. She will be remembered as a generous gift giver, always embellished by reams of tissue paper! She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Her family wants to express their sincere appreciation to the 4th floor staff of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for the excellent support and assistance provided to Bonnie and her family during the time Bonnie was their care.

Details of a celebration of Bonnie’s life will be announced later.
