It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Delmar Clark Thompson on Oct. 30th, 2022. Delmar was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on Feb. 28th, 1960; the fifth child of Everett and Agnes Thompson.
Delmar, or Del as he was known to family and friends, lived in Saskatchewan until 1969 when he moved with his parents to Qualicum Beach, BC. Del graduated from Ballenas Secondary in 1978 and worked in the construction field as a house painter. Del then decided to continue his studies at Malaspina College (now VIU) in the early ‘80s, where he was able to participate in an exchange program, which enabled him to live in Grenada for 2 months. Upon returning from Grenada, Del moved to Alberta and worked in a fertilizer plant. It wasn’t long before Del moved back to BC. He then worked at Whistler doing different jobs in hospitality, as well as painting in the off-season. Eventually, he moved back to Vancouver Island where he spent his remaining years doing a variety of jobs. He managed Schooner Cove Marina, had a fishing charter business in Bamfield, and worked as a house painter.
Over his life, Del enjoyed many hobbies and activities. He loved all sports; participating in many such as: baseball, fishing (both here and in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico), golf, curling, and skiing. Del enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including: cooking (especially BBQing), photography, listening to all genres of music, computers, electronics, and spending time with family and friends. He loved to watch any and all sports on TV, and was especially happy when the Saskatchewan Roughriders chalked up a win.
Del had a wide circle of friends, and he enjoyed spending time with them and with family. He was happiest when socializing with those whom he loved and that loved him. Del will be missed by many.
Del is predeceased by his parents and 3 of his siblings: Dale, Marilyn, and Gaynel. He is survived by, and greatly missed, by his sister, Linda, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for early Summer 2023.
