It is with profound sadness that we announce James (Jim) Chester Campbell passed away suddenly following a battle with pneumonia in Nanaimo Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 24, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Janice (nee Avery); daughter, Stacey (Brad) Smith and their children, Madison, Dakota (Sierra), and Lindsay (Jun) Kim; son, Don (Shelley) Coles; daughter, Jeannie (Jeff) Ternan and their sons, Conner and Kyle; daughter, Janet (Bob) Yellowega and her son, Jeff; daughter, Sue Edgar and her children, Ryan (Crystal), Sarah (Josh), and Brandon (Jess); and his brother, Dwight (Alison) Hornick.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon (nee Gillespie); his wife, Eva (nee Trickett); and his sister, Kavenia.
Jim was born in Edmonton, Alberta on September 3, 1940 to Loraine Harriet (nee Skode) and Earl Noble Campbell. He made his home with his first wife Sharon in New Westminster, British Columbia where he supported his growing family as an electrical contractor. Following Sharon's death Jim became acquainted with Jehovah's Witnesses which changed the rest of his life. Jim was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on April 16, 1983. Shortly thereafter he met and married Eva. They made their home on Salt Spring until 1993 when they followed Brad and Stacey to Port McNeill. Jim enjoyed many years as a full-time pioneer spreading the Kingdom good news in Port McNeill where he was lovingly called “Bible Jim” by many he met in his ministry. He enjoyed donating his time to work on many Kingdom Hall and Assembly Hall building and renovation projects throughout Vancouver Island.
Following Eva's death in 2002 he met and married Janice on January 1, 2004. They made their home in Port McNeill until April, 2020 when they moved to Ladysmith. Covid-19 couldn't hamper Jim's love for the ministry which he continued by making dozens of telephone calls and writing dozens of personal letters.
Jim will be long remembered and missed by friends and family alike.
