
Agnes Jane (Jean) Hanna (McMinn) left this earth on December 21, 2015. She will be missed. Jean was born December 15, 1924 in Nanaimo to Ann and John Bell McMinn. She married Peter Hanna August 14, 1948. In her early years she worked for the telephone company. Her bridge club played together weekly for more than 50 years. Jean loved to garden, dance, golf and travel. She volunteered for many years with the Canadian Cancer Society. She was a lifetime member of The Order of the Eastern Star (Crescent Chapter). Jean is predeceased by husband Pete in 1987, by John Montador in 2009, by brothers Blair McMinn (Solveig), David McMinn(Valerie) and her brothers-in-law Victor Hanna(Vera)William Hanna (Lucy) and Maude Hanna. Jean is survived three children: Louise (Bob) Schulz; Patricia Huggins; and, Randy (Brenda) Hanna, plus 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews and Pete's cousin Rosemary Hanna. She also leaves behind her loving California family including Waller and Kay Prentice. Jean will be remembered always for her love of life, family and friends. The family thanks Dr. Colin Forrester and caregivers at Nanaimo Senior Village for their kindness. There will be a small celebration of life at a later date to be determined. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in her memory, if you wish, can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to the Order of the Eastern Star (Crescent Chapter #10), Nanaimo.
