Jean was born in Dashwood, B. C. and lived her whole life on Vancouver Island. She always said there was nowhere else she would rather live.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Jack Sampson and daughter Faye Smillie. Jean will be sadly missed by daughters, Maggie (Harry) Helfrich, Patti (George) Diplock, grandchildren Cole (Tara), Jordan (Sheena), Nicola Diplock and Joshua Smillie, her four beautiful great granddaughters, Avalon, Myla, Eve and Lily, as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
She will be lovingly remembered for her amazing garden. She truly had a green thumb. She enjoyed flower arranging and cake decorating but her favourite hours were spent with her grandchildren and great granddaughters. Her face always lit up and her smiles were never ending when she was with them.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Jean’s longtime school/family friend, “Bebe” Roland Brown who always took time to share those special childhood memories with her and made her day with his phone calls.
A special thank you to the staff at Nanaimo Senior Village LTC for making her last days comfortable.
Honouring Jean’s request there will be no service.
