Joseph Marcel Prefontaine

Born May 28, 1931, Marcel played football as a young man in Edmonton, had a lifelong passion for waterfowl hunting with family and friends, and was an entrepreneur who had many successful businesses, including the world’s largest billiard hall, Recreation Billiards & The Shalimar Apts, Edmonton: The Doric Howe, & Controlled Foods, Vancouver.

He shared a 75 year love story with his true love and devoted wife, Margaret, who survives him along with his daughters, Robyn, Laura, Joey, and his beloved son Davids surviving wife Patti, and grandchildren Kristy, Jenna, Sarah, Kym, Monique and Marcel, along with 13 great grandchildren.

He and Marg enjoyed their later years, living life every summer in BC amongst the San Juan Islands, fishing and cruising in their beloved boat, Jomar. Marcel will be remembered as a truly remarkable man, and for his endless generosity, loving heart, and great storytelling by all who had the privilege to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00am at First Memorial Funeral Home - 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC, V9S1G9.
