She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Dave; her son and daughter, David (Lisa) and Bonnie (Michael); grandsons, Alexander and Matthew; and her siblings Wendy, Donald, John and Kathy. She will also be dearly missed by her friends at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Nanaimo.
Judy was predeceased by her sisters Lynda and Donna; and her parents, Don and Doreen.
First born to a military family in Winnipeg, and later married to Dave in 1968, Judy embraced these roots, remaining a ‘Base Brat’ until she was 40.
Judy was proud to complete a high school diploma as an adult learner, an accomplishment that inspired her to graduate from Business Administration at Algonquin Community College in 1983.
In the years following their move to Nanaimo in 1988, Judy remained a life-long reader and an avid jigsaw puzzler. Following Dave’s retirement, they began their longstanding association with the Royal Canadian Legion, where Judy was recognized for years of selfless and committed volunteer service.
She was admired for her lovely greeting cards, crafting them, handmade, for every event and occasion.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 256 in Nanaimo at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, 25th June 2024..
In the unexpectedly short time she had to plan for her passing, Judy wished to offer a heartfelt, “Thank you to all the wonderful friends I have made in my life.”
Judy and her family would also like to thank the staff and volunteers from the palliative ward at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Their kindness and compassionate service over Judy’s final days will not be forgotten.
