She will be missed tremendously by her spouse, Kent, by her children Melissa (Jonathan) and Maxwell, by her grandchildren Isaac and Theia, by her siblings, by her extended family, and by her dear friends.
Kimberly Horie (née Fricker) was born to Pat and Al Fricker in Kitimat, BC. Her early years were troubled and unkind. She was adopted by Garry and Jean Fricker at 13 years old and gained a caring mother and father, and three siblings who embraced her and joined her in making mischief. With her new family and new faith in Jesus, she healed.
She loved her husband, Kent Horie, who was by her side always, and she adored her children and grandchildren. In her years of youth ministry, she mothered many. She sacrificed much so that others would know love. She had a deep faith that she shared with others and that brought her comfort throughout her life, into her final days.
Kimberly liked to find peace by the water. She liked to travel, she liked to play team sports, keep house plants, play piano, crochet, soak up the warm sunshine, listen to music, share games and stories around a table, and make delicious food. She particularly enjoyed doing those things with the people she loved. She was an excellent administrator. Kimberly was calm for those in a storm, and lightning and thunder for those who needed excitement. Those who know her use superlatives such as authentic, fun, beautiful, generous, vibrant, and kind to describe her.
Many thanks to Dr. Kathryn King, nurses, and care aides at NRGH Palliative Care for making her last days gentler.
