Lira was born on December 7, 1953 in Nairobi, Kenya to Valentina and Eleuterio D’sa.
Lira married Geoff in 1980 and they lived in Edmonton, Alberta where their sons James and Joshua were born.
Lira not only looked after the children with unconditional love, but also achieved a successful career of 43 years at Workers Compensation Board. Lira gave her all when raising her children, which included countless trips to the mountains to ski and spent many days and nights in hockey arenas and on the sidelines of soccer fields. She also loved to golf with her children and husband.
Lira always had a passion for camping and would spend most of her summer vacation exploring western Canada with her loving husband Geoff.
Lira had a very special bond with her brother Marshal, (Linnet), and the two families spent countless dinners, special occasions, and holidays together.
In 2018, Geoff and Lira retired to Qualicum Beach, BC to escape the frigid Northern Alberta winters. Her generosity, compassion, love and infectious laugh will be missed, and remembered fondly by us all.
Lira is survived by husband Geoff, children James, (Stephanie),and Joshua, (Ashley), grandchildren Liam, Isabella, Elliott, and Micah. Brothers John, Nelson, Marshal, sister Blanche, nieces and nephews. Lira was predeceased by her father Eleuterio and mother Valentina.
Special thanks to the Victoria and Nanaimo Cancer Clinic, the Oceanside Palliative Care and the Trillium Lodge Hospice for all the loving care they gave to Lira during her fight with cancer. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society in Lira’s name.
Lira’s amazing life will be celebrated at a later date. Details to be announced.
