Bob is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Nancy; his beloved sons, Scott and Graeme; his sister, Linda (Ray); and many cousins, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Pauline Arkell of Parksville.
Born in Vancouver, Bob grew up in Richmond, and moved briefly to Parksville before finally settling in Nanaimo, where he devoted his life to caring for family and enjoying the company of friends. With over 35 years of service at BC Ferries, it was there, aboard the Queen of Surrey, that he met the love of his life, Nancy.
Bob will be remembered for his quick smile, gentle nature, and caring spirit. He led with his heart each and every day offering a listening ear, kind word, funny joke, or a helping hand to all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Nanaimo on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
