Bob grew up in Vancouver’s east end in an era of muscle cars, custom motorcycles and rock ‘n’ roll. During this time, lifelong friendships, as well as his relationship with Shelley, his soul mate of 54 years, were formed.
Bob worked for Eaton’s for 29 years, the last 15 in Nanaimo driving truck. It was here he and Shelley set down roots, bought a house, and were blessed with 2 sons, Russell and Casey.
In 2001 Bob and Shelley bought and ran Country Aire Auctions for 16 years where both sons helped, one becoming an auctioneer.
Bob’s last 8 years were met with many physical challenges losing his left leg in 2018, his right in 2019, and several more surgeries on both legs. Bob bravely faced these obstacles, staying happy and optimistic.
In better days there were many fishing trips to Comox with his folks and brother’s family and great dinners with Shelley’s folks and sister Lynn.
As a hobby Bob also restored antique furniture for family, friends and stores. Of all his experiences, it was parenthood that brought his life full circle with a shared love that lasted all his days.
The family thanks hospital staff for Bob’s last 10 days of care and family, friends, neighbours, and acquaintances for their kindness and condolences. Though many hearts are heavy with Bobs passing, take comfort in knowing his life was well lived, loved, and shared.
