

Sharon Gail Saunders (nee Corrin), born on January 18, 1965, was a luminous beacon of love and strength, both inside and out. She passed away peacefully in Nanaimo's Palliative Care Unit on February 27th, 2025, after a courageous decade-long battle with numerous health challenges, embodying grace and resilience until her final moments. Her legacy of compassion and unwavering positivity will forever resonate in the hearts of everyone she touched. Sharon is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Saunders; her cherished daughter, Ashley Paquette (nee Saunders), and her husband, Jeff Paquette; her beloved son, Tyler Saunders, and his three children, Jaxon, Tyson, and Bella; her siblings; and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth and kindness. She now finds eternal rest with her beloved parents, Vi and Tom Corrin, along with other cherished loved ones who have parted before her.
Growing up in a loving family that always prioritized fun and togetherness, Sharon thrived in an environment that nurtured her spirit and fueled her passions. She fondly recalled days spent playing grass hockey and volleyball during her high school years, where her competitive nature and team spirit shone brightly. These formative experiences laid the foundation for the loving, supportive mother she would become. Throughout her career, Sharon wore many hats, providing childcare with compassion, serving as a skilled bookkeeper, and excelling as an office manager. Yet, despite her professional achievements, she always made time for her family's needs, weaving love and care into the everyday fabric of their lives.
From joyous camping trips to the breathtaking Nanaimo Lakes, serene Rathtrevor Beach, or magical Spider Lake Springs, her inner light radiated warmth, enriching the hearts of those fortunate enough to share these moments with her. Each adventure was marked by her infectious laughter and her ability to create an atmosphere of joy, making even the simplest moments unforgettable. An artist at heart, Sharon poured her love into crafting exquisite Diamond Dot Art, a reflection of her creativity that she gifted generously to family, friends, and the dedicated medical professionals who cared for her during her hospital stays. These pieces were not only beautiful but carried the essence of her spirit—thoughtful, vibrant, and wonderfully unique. A lover of music, she recently found solace in the songs of Jelly Roll, particularly resonating with “I Am Not Okay.”
A steadfast believer, Sharon's faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing her with remarkable strength to face each obstacle with unyielding courage and grace. Her sense of beauty was matched only by her incredible inner strength, as she met every challenge with unwavering resolve, inspiring all who knew her with her perseverance and hopeful spirit. One of her most captivating qualities was her radiant smile, which had an extraordinary ability to uplift even the heaviest of hearts. It was a smile that reflected her deep compassion for others, a testament to her selflessness and genuine love for life.
