With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Theresa Herman on June 8th 2023 in Nanaimo.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Lea-Marie Taillefer, siblings, Wilfred (Frieda), Arthur (Violet), John, Ada Morrow (Claude), Alice Gordon (Clarence), her husband Pete, x-husband Walter, grandson Bret and eldest daughter Sharon. Theresa is survived by her youngest brother, Henry Taillefer (Pauline), sister-in-law Reta Taillefer (John), daughters Blondie (Ted Balatti) and Connie Gentry as well as her grandchildren Garth, Krissy (Geoff), Aarron (Sandra), Danielle (Brad) and three beautiful great-grandchildren.
Theresa was born in Kenville, Manitoba, the youngest girl in a French Canadian family of seven kids. Her adventures took her from the farm in the Swan River and Margo, Sask. areas to Churchill, MB where she met the love of her life, “Pete” Petersen. After ten years of marriage in Pine Falls, MB and two little girls later, Theresa was tragically left widowed at 33 years of age. Her adventures continued in BC with buying a grocery store in Burnaby, then a restaurant in Sunnyside. Some years later she met and married Walter and they welcomed another daughter. The growing family moved between White Rock, Surrey and Langley, eventually settling back in Sunnyside where she started and operated a successful painting company in the White Rock area until she finally retired at 75 years old. A few moves back and forth between Manitoba and BC found her finally settle down in Nanaimo.
Special thanks to Drs. Kazanowski and Bronn for their years of compassionate care.
Funeral Mass will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Friday July 14th at 1:00pm. Reception in the Church Hall to follow.
