
Al Durrett of Naples passed away on August 14, 2024. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 25, 1944 to Alva & Inez Durrett. Al attended North High School in Columbus and graduated from Kemper Military School.
Al was the owner of Fish Tale Marina on Fort Myers Beach for nearly 40 years. The south end of Fort Myers Beach was his domain. Anything he could do to make the beach a better place he championed, like creating the Friends of the Arts and various other community events to advance commerce for the beach. He always took the time to listen and was eager to help where needed. Al promoted entrepreneurship. He loved to encourage people to be there own boss. He loved animals of any kind and if you’d stop in his office you’d be greeted by a cat or dog or 2.
Al was a member of the American Senior Golf Association, the International Senior Golf Association, National Rifle Association, and Quail Run Golf Club.
His passions were golf, golf, golf, and traveling the world with his wife Kathy.
Al is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Kelly, son Sean, step-sons Justin, Derek, and Matthew, 5 grandsons, and 2 granddaughters, his brother Walter Durrett, and his Bestest friend Ron Rucker. He was preceded in death by his parents Alva and Inez and his brother John Durrett
Funeral arrangements will be held at Hodges Memorial Gardens in Naples on Saturday August 24, 2024 at 12:30pm
