

Albert Samuel Woodhouse (also known as Woody) age 92 of Bonita Springs Florida died on Tuesday, August 17, at about 1:15 pm. He passed away quickly of cardiac arrest with his son Scott and daughter-in-law, Janis Watkins, by his side. He has gone home to meet his wife, Jean, and many other members of his family who preceded him in death.
Albert was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada on February 21, 1929 to parents Agnes Dalgleish and Ernest Woodhouse. He grew up in humble circumstances but made his way to New York City in about 1949 to make his fortune. After working several Wall Street jobs he enrolled in New York University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and then went on to achieve his master’s degree in business management.
In 1961 Albert accepted a position at Chase Manhattan Bank where he eventually advanced to Vice President of Management Planning and Development. Later in 1982 he and his wife moved overseas to Bahrain where he was Director of the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance until his retirement in 1994.
Albert served as Chairman of the Board for the American Institute of Banking (New York chapter) and also on the Board of Directors for the American Mission Hospital in Bahrain. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a bishop in the church for eight years from 1970 – 1978.
Albert enjoyed running and completed three marathons with his best time under four hours. He was an entertaining harmonica player, good tenor singer, loved to dance, and enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
He is survived by his five children Brent, Scott, Kim, Keith, and daughter Deborah Gaebler along with his 21 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
The funeral will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 20601 Three Oaks Parkway, Estero, Florida on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Viewing will be at 10:00 and followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in the Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave, Portland, Maine 04103 at 11:30 am.
