It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Amiel Frank Horvath, age 81, of Naples, Florida (formerly Hilltown, Pennsylvania). After a courageous and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer, he went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2026. His loving daughters were by his side.
Amiel was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Anna (nee Bekina) and Albert Horvath on 13OCT1944. He attended St. Joe’s Prep and Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He married Ruth (nee Rummel) on 22FEB1964 and with her built a beautiful family life in Hilltown, Pennsylvania. He worked as a Splicer/Lineman for Bell Telephone for 25+ years. After his retirement from Bell Telephone, he and Ruth moved to Naples, Florida where he was actively involved (cards, pool, shuffleboard, pizza nights) with his dear 55+ community family at Palm River and Caribbean Naples. As a devout Catholic, he always found ways to participate in church activities; volunteering at yearly carnivals and as a driver for those in need.
Amiel was preceded in death by his cherished wife Ruth, loving parents Anna and Albert, and treasured grandson Thomas Lee Gentry.
Amiel is survived by his children: Mary Anne McCaffrey, Joseph Horvath (Lori), Dorothy Kreamer (Gary), sister: Barbara Walker (Bill), grandchildren: John McCaffrey, Timothy Gentry (Brittany), Joseph Horvath, Lance Horvath, and great-grandchildren: Johnny, Ben and Liam McCaffrey, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Avenue North, Naples, FL 34108. Following the Mass, interment beside his beloved wife, Ruth, will occur in the memorial gardens adjoining the church and funeral home. A Celebration of Life with a catered reception will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Socrates Perez and Hope Hospice.
