

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rhoads Donovan, her brother, Allen Bolds and her parents Elden and Lelia Weaver Bolds.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Jeanne Bolds; her sons, David Romick of Beavercreek, OH and Douglas Romick (Allison Romick) of Pittsboro, NC and her cherished grandchildren, Luke (Mallory), Jill (John), Alec, and Hayden, who brought her immense pride and joy.
Barbara earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and went on to complete graduate studies at the University of Michigan. She dedicated her professional life to serving others as a speech language pathologist, a career that reflected her compassion, patience, and commitment to helping people find their voices.
She was a proud member of Phi Beta Phi and gave generously of her time and leadership as a former board member of Fresh Start for Abused Women and Children, a fund of the Collier Community Foundation.
Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Barbara embraced life through creativity and community. She was an avid painter and reader and found deep meaning in music, singing in the choir at St. Monica Episcopal Church. Her faith, artistic spirit, and love of learning shaped her life and touched all who knew her.
Barbara will be remembered for her intellect, kindness, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she influenced with grace and compassion.
Family and friends will gather to honor Barbara’s memory at 11am January 17th, 2026 at Saint Monica's Episcopal Church (7070 Immokalee Rd, Naples, FL 34119) an online link will be made available to anyone unable to attend in person.
A private burial service will happen in Cincinnati, Ohio at a later date.
