“Oh how wrong we were to think immortality meant never dying”
― Gerard Way
David Samuel Wadsworth passed away November 30th, 2013 in Naples, Florida. He loved the Lord and is especially excited about continuing his journey into the presence of the Lord according to 1 John 5:11-13 and 1 Corinthians 15:54-55.
A selfless, caring and giving person, David, lovingly known as “Wads” by his friends, is best remembered for his love of sports and animals, his compassion for people and the special way that he was able to light up a room.
Born May 5th, 1991, David attended Naples High School and also received an Associate of Science degree from Stetson University. An avid lacrosse player, David was instrumental in bringing the sport, in club form, to both his alma maters. When the game was on the line, more often than not, it was number 33 that came through and scored the winning goal.
David had a love for animals (especially his dog Daisy) and never met dog that wasn’t his friend.
With the dream of becoming a physical therapist, only David’s missionary work, which took him as far away as Mexico and Australia, got in the way of school. Though David had planned to return to school to finish his degree, much of David’s free time was filled with being a Teen Challenge staff member where he used his experience to help counsel teens with dependency problems. With a personality that could only be described as “electric”, friends have described David as being that person that understood their problems and could easily make things better. David is survived by his mother, Victoria Wadsworth and his brother, Joshua Wadsworth along with his grandparents, Tom and Susan Brown, grandmother Virgina McIntire and adopted grandmother Judy Jacobs, aunts and uncles which include John and Kristen Cipolla, Tim Brown, Eileen Brown, Robert and Dr. Leslie Ricciardelli and cousins Johnny Mac, Kyle, Lexi and Kalee Cipolla, Tyler and Austin Brown and Jessica Ricciardelli. David was preceded in death by a his grandfather and best friend, John Louis Cipolla,
A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, December 7 at Hodges Funeral Home, 525 111th Ave N, Naples with a viewing being held at 2:00 p.m., services at 3:00. In lieu of cards and flowers, David would have preferred donations be sent to: Ozarks Teen Challenge – David Wadsworth Wadsworth Memorial P.O. box 2066 Branson West, MO 65737
