Emily Ann Costello

Emily Ann “Em” Costello died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL after a short illness. She was born February 11, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN to Mrs. Beatrice and Dr. Fred G. Bosler, DDS.

Beloved wife of Tom Costello for over 62 and 1/2 years. Loving mother of Daniel, of Atlanta, GA, Barbara Ann (Richard) VanAntwerp, of Grand Rapids, MI, and Karen (John) Lach, of Grand Rapids, MI and loving grandmother to Brian Lach, of Chicago, IL, and Kristen Lach of Grand Rapids, MI. Dear sister of Marilyn (Jan) Henley of Inver Grove Hts., MN, Rita (Bob) Burroughs of Indianapolis, IN. Dear sister-in-law of Joe and Kathy Costello of Rome City, IN and also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Jeanne and brother-in-law Bob Wruble and brother Michael (Cheryl) Bosler of Arnold, MD.

A fine athlete, Emily spent her childhood and young adult summers at her family’s cottage on Clear Lake near Angola, IN and later years swimming in her Grand Rapids pool and also the pool at Lakeside in Naples, FL where the couple spent 25 years after retiring.

Emily was employed as a legal secretary to the senior lawyer assistant to the president of Lincoln Life Insurance headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN. She was also secretary to the chairman of the Committee to build Parkview Memorial Hospital. She served as secretary to the manager of the Fort Wayne Symphony as well. After raising her family, she and her husband started TEC Associates, a full service advertising agency specializing in business advertising.

Emily loved music, especially organ concerts and brass quartets, reading, cooking and baking, gardening and especially ice cream. Emily lived a simple but full life, could connect with anyone and could put people at ease in an instant. She was nothing less than her true self: a wonderful wife and mother, an incredible grandmother and a friend to all.

A memorial mass will take place on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the chapel at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Rd., Naples, FL 34120.

A prayer service will take place in Grand Rapids, MI at a later date and time to be determined by the family.
