
Frederick William Taylor Hoogland 75,Naples Florida,died May 11, 2015 following complications after surgery. He was born September 7, 1939 in Hartford Connecticut to Florence and Frederick Vrooman Hoogland. He attended the following schools: St. Joseph School in Martinsburg West Virginia, Georgetown Preparatory School, The College of the Holy Cross, and University of Michigan Law School. He had a life-long interest in language, both written and spoken, and always tried to speak up for the less fortunate. Other interests included weekend running races in the San Francisco Bay area and Houston where Fred and Maryalice lived prior to retirement. Fred remained an active member of the New York, California, and Texas bar associations, as those were states in which he practiced corporate contract law for Shell Oil and Airliquide Corporation. In 1977, he married, and is survived by, Maryalice Phillips Hoogland. He is also survived by their son, Benjamin, and granddaughter Kaliahna. He is also survived by siblings Anne (Harvey) Williams, Mary C. Noon, Dorset (Norman) Anderson, John (Judy) Hoogland, and Margaret Hoogland. He was predeceased by his sisters Elisabeth (Bill) Stewart and Katherine (Dwain) Donaldson and niece Caroline Stewart. He is also survived by two first cousins, Dan (Krista) Johns and David (Ann) Johns, and 37 nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held at a later date in St. George Church, Guilford Connecticut .
