Gregory William Malloy

12 diciembre , 194720 febrero , 2021

Gregory W Malloy, 73 of Naples FL & Wolfeboro NH, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2021.

Greg was born December 12, 1947 in Burlington VT to Barbara Killary Malloy and the late Donald Malloy, the family moved to New Providence NJ in 1949.

He graduated New Providence High School in 1965. He met Barbara Baker at NPHS in 1962; they married in 1968 and would enjoy a 53 year love story. Always by each other’s side and always up for an adventure. Their journey took them to VT, NJ, OH, MA, NH & FL and touching many lives along the way. In 1969, Greg accepted a position at Crum & Forster Ins. Co as a file clerk in NYC, a 27 year career with C&F ending as EVP Field Operations & Marketing. Taking risk and not wanting to work for someone else he left, in 1997, he moved to Boston, MA and started PMC Insurance Group. During his time, he had a great ability to read the character of those around him, had an open door policy, approachable by all, always flashed a smile, had rock solid integrity, and was trusted by all. He grew PMC to be one of the largest Workers Comp specialty insurance brokers in the country.

Greg had an amazing career that at its core was built on the love and belief in people, and always around a good meal. Relationships of a lifetime that made work pleasure and pleasure work.

In 2006, he become a snowbird, splitting time between Andover, MA, Naples FL and Wolfeboro NH. Greg loved the FL lifestyle, enjoying golf in the day, cocktails in the hot tub and frequent dinners with friends. Come May, lake life called, where he loved the crystal clear water of Lake Winnipesaukee and many hours on the boat. Most Importantly, FL and NH were hosting grounds for his kids, grandkids, family and friends. He loved nothing more than a table full of people, a long meal, great wine and great laughs. People were Greg’s fuel, he had a genuine interest in everyone he came in contact, found commonality with all, and often your brief time meeting him would end in a warm hug. He will be remembered as a larger than life character, mentor and teacher to his children, grandkids, family, friends and business associated alike.

His light will live and shine through all those he touched!

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Malloy; his mother, Barbara K. Malloy; sister, Marjory M. Berry; brother, William Malloy; his sons, David and Jeff; Daughters in law, Melissa and Dana; and grandchildren, Olivia, Isabella, Grace, Leah and Ryan.

A celebration of life will be held at Hodge Funeral Home, Naples FL on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2011 at 11am. In lieu of flowers Greg would ask you make a donation to St Jude’s Children Hospital .

Dear Barbara, just had this news from BobStewart and feeling so sad for you and the “boys”,! I had just been thinking of you all and wondering if you still had your lake house here in WOLFEBORO? I am so glad I had the chance to see you both a few summers ago! You will never be replaced at #3 Stonelodge! It was never the same without you all!
I do hope you still have your house in NH and would love to see you if you do!
Thinking of you all and know our doors are always open to you and family, anytime!

Love and hugs,

In life, you meet some people that you will never forget and some people that you will always remember.

All of my memories of Greg bring a smile to my face and fill my heart with love. From our first meeting it was like he and Barb were already family. Greg and Barb have been the ones my family have wanted with us for celebrations and have loved us through trying times. We have been blessed by the time we had with him. To say he will be missed doesn’t even touch the void that is left by his passing.
Lots of love to Barb and the boys and all the family. You all were the light of his life as was evident by the way he glowed when speaking about you and especially the way he would light up when he made Barb laugh.
I will cherish the talks I had with Greg about everything in life, from careers and relationships to wine and road trips. I hope to make people feel as heard and interesting as Greg genuinely made those around him feel.
Love you Greg.

Our friendship with Greg and Barbara grew over the many St. Michael’s class reunions. Although our contact was intermittent, we always looked forward to those reunions knowing Greg and Barb would be there. Greg and I were not close in college but interacted by our proximity in the dorms. It was always uplifting to see his smile. Greg will be missed by all his acquaintances, friends, clients and family. His life was good.

The first dozen years or so of this century were a time of significant turmoil in the insurance world. It was during this period that I was introduced to a bigger than life Greg Malloy. He was a business partner, trusted consultant and a friend. Although at business dinners, I did learn it was dangerous to let him pick the wine!

His quick smile, big laugh and strong handshake will be missed.

Heartfelt sympathies go out to David, Barb, the rest of his family and PMC associates.

My friendship with Greg began when we first met as next room neighbors at St. Michael’s College, 52 years ago. Upon learning that we were both “Jersey Boys”, it created a bond that was unwavering for the remainder of our lives. We became roommates for both Sophomore and Junior years, until he “ dumped me” to marry his longtime girlfriend, the lovely Barbara, a wise choice on his part, I
might add! Greg was affectionately called “the Wheel” by his classmates throughout our college days and beyond. Throughout our get togethers and College Reunions, Greg was always the life of the party with his charm, wit, and a warm disposition towards everyone. He was my mentor. The times we spent together will be forever cherished by me. He will be missed immensely !
My family and I extend our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Barbara, Jeff, David and all the Malloy families. R.I.P. roomie!

We first met Greg when he and Denny were business associates in Cleveland, Ohio. He was such a fun, loving guy and we became fast friends with Greg and Barb. We always had such a good time together at the Hermit Club where we spent many Saturday nights enjoying the amateur musicians and camaraderie of the Club. When we married in 1978, we asked Barb and Greg to stand up for us and they happily accepted. We have attached some pictures from our wedding on September 9, 1978 at the Hart House Chapel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Through the years we kept our friendship strong and were delighted to learn that they had purchased a home in Naples. To Greg: we will always remember the fun, conversations and your great sense of humor. To Barb: we grieve for the loss of a great man who you were blessed to call your husband and to have him by your side for 53 years.
