Irma was born on January 6, 1936, in Wood River, Illinois. Her life was marked by her deep love for music and nature. An accomplished pianist, Irma found joy in sharing her talent with others. Irma was the full-time organist for Our Savior Lutheran Church in Topsfield, MA for over 20 years, bringing comfort and inspiration to those who heard her music. Irma headed up a tutoring program for secondary students at Masconomet in which she signed up over 40 mothers to help tutor students. Her passion for gardening was equally profound; she had a particular fondness for orchids and took great pride in cultivating beauty through her plants. One of her cherished pastimes was visiting her dedicated garden, "Irma's Garden" at the Naples Botanical Gardens, a place that reflected her nurturing spirit and appreciation for nature's splendor.
Irma is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Tom Leonard; her two sons, Mark Leonard and his wife Joanna, and Craig Leonard and his wife Maureen; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Her family brought immense joy to her life, and she treasured the time spent with them.
Irma’s legacy of love, music, and beauty will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11 am on April 23, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 4150 Goodlette-Frank Road in Naples, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Naples Botanical Garden.
