Wife of Lowell Rust for 66 years, loving mother of Robert Rust of Venice, FL, James Rust of Ocean Shores, WA and Sue Powers of Venice, Fl., grandmother of Danielle Rust and Ian Rust and sister of Clarabell Apple of Bonita Springs, Fl.
Born and raised in Terrace Park, Ohio, Jean was the second oldest of four siblings. She transferred to Batavia High School in her junior year and became Lowell Rust’s “steady girl” in 1939. She married the love of her life on Feb, 20, 1943. Lowell’s overseas service took him into France while Jean returned to Terrace Park and opened a beauty shop. They saved their money and after the war, they had enough funds to build a house in Summerside, Ohio. Lowell’s career afforded them the opportunity to live in different states throughout their life together. They were proud parents and were very active in raising their three children and giving them the best life possible.
Jean loved to be around people, horses and golf. She was active in the 4-H club for over 20 years, a member of Eastern Stars, Ladies Elks Club and an auxiliary member of the VFW. She loved to play golf with her family and friends and boy could she swing that club. Jean was very active in arts & crafts, loved playing cards and winning at bingo. She was a big sports fan and would watch any sport on TV, especially her beloved Cincinnati Reds, football, soccer and golf.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a great memory and shared all the wonderful family stories and great adventures she had as a child and a parent during family get-togethers.
She will also be sorely missed by her family and friends.
