

Joan Ruth Lee Nugent DiGiulio, 82, of Naples, FL passed away on November 2, 2020. She was born in New York, NY on May 3, 1938 and was adopted by her parents, James and Virginia Nugent. Joan graduated High School from Mount Saint Ursula Academy in Bronx, NY and later received a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT. Joan has been married to her husband John since January 15, 1957 who she shared a loving marriage with for nearly 64 years. In addition to being a loving wife, she was a loving mother to her three children.
She worked for approximately 20 years as a Social Worker for the state of Connecticut and later worked as a Financial Counselor at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut. Joan was the former President of The American Legion Auxiliary post 204 in Southbury, CT and was also a member of the Connecticut Patriot Guard Riders. In her free time Joan enjoyed duck pin bowling, reading, crossword and word search puzzles, playing scrabble, dominoes, and Mahjong.
Joan is survived by her husband John DiGiulio; her three children, John Jr. (Kelly), Michael, and Rosanne; six grandchildren; two sisters, Diana Vidra and Barbara Barnwell; her brother, David Carter; and many other cherished family and friends. Joan was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Jr.; her brother, James Nugent; and her sister, Vickie Roberson.
A Visitation will take place on Sunday, November, 8th from 12:00pm-4:00pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens (525 111th Ave. N. Naples, FL 34108) and interment will follow on Wednesday, November 11th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Joan's name to a charity of your choice.
