
Joyce was born in Trimont, Minnesota, on 23 October 1940 and was the daughter of Carl Thomas Barlow and Evelyn (Petersen) Barlow.
Joyce was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as an Administrative Clerk from 1960 to 1961.
Joyce was married to Jerry LaMont Burnett-Barker from Naples Florida, for over 64 years until he passed in June 2025. Joyce will be buried with Jerry's ashes in the Masonic section of Naples Memorial Gardens.
Preceding Joyce in death are her parents, her sisters Lucille Barlow and Ruth Beach and her brothers John and Tom Barlow, and two grandsons, Michael Burnett Kelly and Curt Allan Scott.
Joyce is survived by her siblings Darlene (Stewart) Agerter, Tom's widow Terry Barlow, Bill (Deb) Barlow, Lois (Greg) Johnson and Wayne (Cindy) Barlow. She has three children, Dr. Catherine Burnett, PharmD (William Kelly, CMSgt, USAF (Retired)) of Naples, Anne Scott (Dr. Gene Scott DDiv) of Naples and Claude Burnett (Julia) of Lake Placid, Florida. She has six grandchildren, Chad and Brian Scott of Naples, Technical Sergeant Richard Kelly of MacDill AFB Florida, Staff Sergeant Andrew Kelly USAR and Patrica Kelly of Naples, Rachel Elizabeth Greene (Ethan) of Mt. Gilead NC, Victoria Alicen Burnett of Lake Placid and one great-granddaughter Della Rose Greene of Mt. Gilead, NC. Along with many nieces and nephews.
After leaving the Army, Joyce spent some years as a military spouse in West Germany and a homemaker before beginning a 20 year career at Naples Community Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After NCH, Joyce spent another 20 years as a private duty LPN.
She became an LPN in 1976 when she graduated from Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology. She was in the 2nd graduating LPN class.
She was a 1981 graduate of Edison Community College.
She joined the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, where she was active in both the Local and State chapters, becoming State President in 2000.
Joyce was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 291.
There will be a public viewing at Hodges Funeral Home (Dignity) Naples Memorial Gardens (525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108) on Friday, April 17th, at 6:00 pm.
The funeral will be at Hodges Funeral Home (Dignity) on Saturday, April 18th, at 9:00 am, with burial to follow.
