Lawrence (Larry) Paul Keblusek, born on July 20, 1947, passed away on January 22, 2021. He was born in Chicago, IL to Laddie J. Keblusek and Margaret H. Halla. He resided in Evergreen Park, IL and was raised by Laddie, his grandmother and our grandmother Phyllis. He attended school in Evergreen Park and then was selected to participate in the Senate Page program during his teenage years. He then went on to attend the George Washington University for his undergraduate studies and eventually for his Master’s degree.
During his 20’s and early 30’s, he worked at a number of financial institutions around Washington D.C. where he would spend his free time sailing around the Chesapeake Bay with friends and teammates. He met Lisa Barnes during his mid 30’s and they were married on March 8th, 1983. Soon after, they had their first child Christopher Ryan in October of that year. Our father took a position at the Northern Trust Company shortly after Chris was born and moved his family to Libertyville, IL. Mitchell Reilly was born in July of 1985 and Daniel Evan was born 2 years later in July of 1987. As he watched his family grow, he spent his spare time attending sports games, vacationing in the Outer Banks and playing mediocre golf at Pine Meadows. Larry frequented the pro shops around the area for good deals on golf balls and golf clubs that he “misplaced”. Larry and Lisa spent their summers in the Outer Banks where family and friends would gather to celebrate life. He spent countless hours on flights commuting back and forth to spend these formative years with the ones he loved.
Subsequently, Larry’s jobs took him to sunny Connecticut and Boston where vitamin deficiencies caused his golf game to stagnate. Despite his successful career, he was forced to use foot wedges to keep his handicap in line (a “Take a Larry”). Knowing that people were catching on to his antics, he decided it was time to retire to a place where his persona would shine. He believed that Lisa and he would benefit from increased sun exposure so they decided to move down to Naples, Florida and retire. While in Florida, the increase in vitamin D did nothing for his golf game, but it improved his outlook on life which was imparted to his many friends. Larry was always the life of the party and went out of his way to make sure that each person in the room was as well. Many will remember him as the most fun guy at the bar, but for him it was just as important to have loving friends around him to share in the moment. He had many loves which included his wife and children, but also the many lifelong friends that he met over the years. To each and every one that spent time with Larry over the years, we thank you, as his success would not as meaningful without the ones he loved.
His wish was to have his remains be spread across the waters in the Outer Banks which will be done in time. We will continue to hold his memory dear to ensure that one of the greatest men each of us has had the honor of knowing will live on as a shining beacon in our lives. As an aside, if anyone has any information regarding his missing Taylor Made (bubble shaft) 3 wood that mysteriously took flight, you may contact us directly.
Larry is survived by his wife Lisa, the most wonderful woman he ever knew, three incredibly handsome sons, Chris, Mitch and Dan, as well as his amazing daughter-in-law Christy, and his two poster child grandsons, Owen and Evan.
