Louise Ruchman Warshauer passed away with grace, dignity and, finally, in peace on May 9, 2023 from complications relating to Parkinson’s disease. Louise was born in 1936 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Meyer and Minnette Ruchman. She along with her brother, Marshall, and sister, Harriet, was raised in a large and loving extended family. From childhood through last summer she spent her summers at her “happy place,” Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Indiana.
Louise lived to provide care and comfort to the people around her. She left an indelible impression on everyone she met because she was a caring person who never needed to be the center of attention. She believed that giving her time and resources to her community was just as important as supporting her family and, as such, volunteered her time with several nonprofit organizations. She was very active in the establishment of the “duck race” for SCAN, which has become its premier fundraiser.
Even as Parkinson’s disease began to slow her down, Louise continued to nurture and support her family. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bill, her brother, Marshall Ruchman (Judy) and sister Harriet Cohen (Allen), and her children Susan Kennicott and her husband Don, Bruce Warshauer and his wife Holly, Amy Platt and her husband Ed, and her daughter-in-law Marie Warshauer. Her beloved son, David, predeceased her. In addition, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter survive her, and she was eagerly awaiting the birth of 3 additional great-grandchildren later this year. She wanted nothing more than to live long enough to meet those 3 babies.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Hodges Funeral Home, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108 with Rabbi Adam Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, SCAN of Northeast Indiana, the Parkinson’s Foundation, or an organization of your choosing.
