12 junio, 1942 – 5 septiembre, 2021
Obituario de Michael G. Mansur
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens

Michael Gene Mansur, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at his home in Naples, Florida.

Michael was born on June 12, 1942 and was raised in Santa Ana, California. He grew up with a love of fast, loud cars, a passion he shared with his father, grandfather and two brothers. Michael was a lifelong IndyCar and Formula 1 fan, attending races throughout his life including at Long Beach, CA, Monaco and his most beloved Le Mans, France. His daughters will miss the annual viewing of the 24 hours at Le Mans with him, even though they hated every minute of it when they were children.

In 1965, Michael settled in Honolulu, Hawaii after meeting his first wife. Soon afterward his daughters Mary-Michael and Molly Ann were born. In Hawaii he began to develop his love of golf plus began his career as a sales representative for Levi Strauss & Company. He worked for Levi Strauss for over 20 years, bringing Levi’s across Oahu and to the outer islands of Hawaii. His Levi’s career moved him and his family to San Francisco where he sold Levi’s to a little-known store called The Gap and became a lifelong Raiders fan. Eventually Levi’s took him and his family to Los Angeles where he managed a large territory across many western states, but he always found time to cheer for his daughters at their soccer games, drive carpools to school and attend father-daughter dances.

In 1983, after his first marriage had ended, he was introduced to Bernadette Fogel of New York City, by his neighbors (who were her cousins) in Palos Verdes, California. To say that he was besotted with her would be an understatement. They fell in love with each other despite the long distance. Soon he moved to New York City and they were married in December 1984. They lived an amazing and loving life, sharing beautiful homes together in New York City, Boston, Southampton and Bridgehampton NY and Naples, Florida. They loved golfing and playing tennis together, they often enjoyed dinner at The Palm Too on Second Avenue in New York City. Michael embraced Bernadette’s family, he loved her sister and brother-in-law Regina and John Kelly and their two sons John Paul and Donald. Together they spent many summer weekends sailing in Shelter Island and holidays at Regina’s home in Pound Ridge, NY. Bernadette and Michael have a wonderful close-knit group of friends that often would spend birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions together. His second career was in real estate, he retired as an associate broker for Brown Harris Stevens in 2016. Throughout their marriage, Michael supported Bernadette in all that she did and helped her to achieve her dreams throughout her long career in communications for Avon Cosmetics, Reebok and The National Hockey League. For every award she won, for each achievement she had, he was constantly by her side and forever her number one fan.

After residing part time in Naples since 2005, they retired and moved full time into their home at the Twin Eagles Estates in Naples, Florida in 2016. Michael made many wonderful friendships throughout the Twin Eagles community as well as the greater city of Naples. He brought joy into every conversation, always with a beautiful smile to share. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Mansur (residing in Villa Terracina Memory Care of Naples, Florida), his brother Patrick Mansur, his two daughters Mary Michael Rodgers and Molly Mansur Dufner, his son-in law Matthew Robert Dufner and his two granddaughters Megan Elaine Rodgers and Layla Roselaine Dufner. Michael was a friend to all, truly a great person, he would wish for his memory to be celebrated with lots of love and the spirit of aloha.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Gulf Coast Chapter www.alz.org/flgulfcoast. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Mansur family at www.hodgesnaplesmg.com
